It is a routine and quite natural for Israelis to punish trouble makers to teach a harsh lesson. I'm sure that the Lt. Colonel's career will not be affected in the long term and there is, no doubt, a great deal of understanding to be found for his act in Israel society. Fortunately, that sympathy does not extend to the rest of world and that is what counts most for the future of Israel.
