it has been obvious since obama was elected that his tiers mondist, socialist, anti-colonialist sympathies were not always reconcilable with america's most important national security policies. hence, in the case of egypt, his sympathies with the revolutionaries, including the muslim brotherhood, cannot be reconciled with the very real risk that the outcome of the revolution will be harmful to american geopolitical strategic interests. should a regime arise that over the long term will be outright hostile to american interests, it is difficult to predict american response. obama will not be president forever.
