When Carter thought he was though with politics, he believed he could finally be honest, and hence, his book, Peace, Not Apartheid. Now, his grandson wishes to run for Senator, and so Carter must now be dishonest because he knows well that his actions will have a direct affect on his grandson's political career. The timing is remarkable and his motivations are quite obvious. It is so disappointing how people will lose their principles and ethics for the sake of a political career, or in this case, for the sake of his grandson's career.
