In 1986, we—Rabbi Elyse Goldstein and Baruch Browns— put our colourful names (Gold and Brown) together on a palette and came up with the last name Sienna. That is our married name and has been since 1986! All 3 of our kids were born as Siennas. We are the Sienna family; I am legally Elyse Goldstein-Sienna and my husband is legally Baruch Browns-Sienna. This "new idea" was profiled first in the New York Times in 2008, after which we were excorriated for our chutzpah in First Things (http://www.firstthings.com/article/2008/09/001-whats-your-name) and replied (http://www.firstthings.com/article/2007/09/february-letters). So there is history here!
