This is a long overdue understanding-well stated! Israel has blemishes and does too many and goes too far in trying to handle a paranoia regarding the Palestinians as a whole. However, when one looks around Israel, we find much progressive support for revolutionary movements that are sputtering across Africa & the Middle East. Indeed, those interested in human dignity should endorse and support such possibilities. But, how unproductive is it to damn the one country in this part of the world that has provided at least reasonable prospects for its minority inhabitants-whether Arab, or African-and has been ahead of the game in women's rights. There is a hypocrisy in wanting to tear asunder a country though far from as advanced in rights as we would like at least exhibits that potential, while praising movements and countries whose leadership is much further from such sensibilities.
