Dror, what do you mean by "redemption"? Jews lived for millenia in Iraq, so have Chaldean Christians, there were ups and downs but Jewish life fourished there for centuries. What are you saying that all of Jewish history in Iraq can be summed up in the years between Rashid Ali in 1941 and 1950? And yes, I do find something tragic in the fact that Jewish life, which has a history of 2,000 years, of religous literature, secular literature, publications, schools, is gone, finished only because you have siad yourselves, not the Arab Iraqis, we are not of this place. I find that tragic. You obviously do not. And in its place what has been achieved. An Ashkenized, black hat homogenized Judaism that encouraged your community to become like them If your parents lost property in Iraqi, they should, by all means, be compensated. I hope your parents or grandparents have not given up listening to Oum Khaltoum or Abdul Wahab.
