It's what we evolved to eat for all except the last 10,000 years of our history - a drop in the bucket in evolutionary terms. What is BAD for you is grain fed RED MEAT and CHICKEN PRODUCED BY AGRIBUSINESS. If you ate organic pastured (grass fed or free range versions) these products would be among the healthiest things you could eat. If you can't get/can't afford the organic versions, you are still better off eating the non organic versions than eating according the the USDA recommendations. (And btw, most frozen beef in Israel is imported from South America, where they still grass feed.) If you eat like the USDA pyramid you will look like one too - just look at the statistics coming out of American on obesity. (No problems with the sugar, flour - all types not just white, mono sodium glutamate, artificial sweeteners, cereals, snacks and margarine being on this list - they belong there, although I doubt that anybody in this day and age thinks they are healthy.
