Let me make some things clear from my perspective as a Palestinian: 1- Nobody here has trouble *admitting* that Israel *is* a Jewish state. 2- Asking for *recognition* as a Jewish state is a demand to drop the right of return (which is not the same as *allowing* the actual return of Palestinian refugees). If Israel insists on such recognition, it must be prepared to recognize its responsibility for the banishment of 750,000 Palestinian non-Jews and offer to do all in its power to compensate and rehabilitate them. However; 3- Israel does not need us or anybody else to recognize it as whatever it wants to be, and insisting on it is just a delay tactic, not to mention playing the international cry baby. 4- A Jewish State must uphold Jewish values, which have more or less been obliterated by Israel's occupation and domination of my people.
