But fundamentally, the army must internalize the fact that the civilian authority is supreme, or we will be in deep trouble. (I believe Ariel Sharon once suggested to Dayan to initiate a coup d'etat, when they were both soldiers.) We have a situation today where the Supreme Court ordered the dismantling of a settlement (Migron) built on Arab land, and therefore cannot be made legal retroactively by the state. This was years ago, but Migron is still there.
