The article provides an aggregated statistic and does explain the reasons behind the gap. For instance, a numer of questons needs to be asked to determine whether there is a problem or not. Is one group more or less likely to behave in life-threateing behaviour (i.e. drivig dangerousl, drinking, drugs, operating machinery etc.)? Lets compare the major causes of death for each group and see where there is a disparancy. If we see that there is a measurable difference in one category (i.e. heart failure) then lets drill down on that and see what the root causes are. There are a number of analyses that would need to done to determine 'why' the gap is there. To simply assume that there is a discriminatory issue is irresponsible and poor judgement.
