Netanyahu was not elected leader of Egypt, but of Israel. He is first of all supposed to look after our interests. For instance, he should always come up with peaceful proactivity, because it is in Israels interest that there is peace and stability in the Middle East. However, the current crisis in Egypt could have led, and could stil lead, to the end of the peacetreaty. That´s not good. A big change in the south would require us to redirect our forces in a very dramatic way. So - it´s realpolitik and pragmatism. The best would be peace with a democratic Egypt.
