"Arabs have the same right as any Jew..." Is that true for the Bedouins, targeted by the Knesset's plan to remove them from their land in the Negev? These citizens settled in areas as directed by the state a few decades back, but their villages, denied basic services like water and electricity, have been demolished repeatedly. The plan to remove them so Jewish-only housing can be built is still going forward. Is that true for Arab Israelis, who face "rampant discrimination" according to a government report released last year? Since 1948, 700 new Jewish communities have been created but not one for Arab citizens. Growth rates have been about equal in Jewish and Arab sectors. Is it true for Arabs of the Triangle, who will be bartered away, their citizenship revoked, if Leiberman gets his way? Imagine if Israel tried the same thing with Jewish citizens? Is that true for Arab representation in the Knesset, where a pending bill would raise the threshold for participation to eliminate Arab parties? I recommend that you take a hard look at institutionalized discrimination in Israel. And stop calling it a democracy.
