In the past 60 years, the number of countries that the US could not live without in the US have been almost uncountable (Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, ...). Erdogan is just another in a long line of megalomaniacs that the US and the world have had to deal with arising from the Islamic countries (Nasser, Assad, Hussein, Arafat). He too will pass because their fundamental view of the US is flawed. The US doesn't support Israel out of blackmail or obligation, but out of a shared sense of history and destiny.
