On the surface all about Iran's nuclear developments is political; but the real issues are economical. Iran's oil and gas will run out in 25 - 30 years. Meanwhile it has an expanding population and needs to create jobs. Nucler energy in all its aspects, except bombs, is vital for Iran's long-term energy supply and as export product. The fight with the US is not about nuclear bombs (the US is well aware Iran isn't pursuing any) but about economic prosperity, which to pursue is Iran's right. The US wants to curtail that right for its own hegemonistic purposes, which is illegal, hence the intentionally false suspicions used as cover. Economic prosperity is independence. The US wants client states to contol oil and economy. If Iran were to accept the package offered, there is no guarantee that the US would live up to its promises. If it doesn't, where will that leave Iran? That is what Iran is saying and what Bush refuses to hear.
