The bombing of the Russian airliner reflects the long conflict between Islamic extremists and Egypt that has spread south to the coastal fantasy land.21:26 25.11.15 | 0 comments
Accoridng to the pages of this newspaper, the Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America took up the cause of sexual abuse in the Armed Forces that it does exist, and the punishment for offenders is far lighter than it ought to be--that is in the United States Armed Forces! In Israel, we have a long term experience where sexual abuse was often the norm in the "bad old days", with some of our finest and bravest generals as the shining examples of such abuses, but . . . alas we forgave them, because of "what they did for the country". It seems that some women these days are not as forgiving, and some parents, even otherwise Secular parents would rather have their daughters not serve in Zahal on account of the sexual abuse that remains part of the IDF culture. For some reason, there are some proponets to "equality" that assert that the presence of women in the Army is a progressive measure, and there are some that disagree, though there are opinion leaders that forget that many of male personnel in Zahal have not "changed" and . . . it's obvious that some of the abuses of the past remain, albeit sub rosa. Regretably, the proponents of keeping women as part of Army have a nasty habit of yelling "Taliban" when the idea of not inducting them comes up. The fact is it is a area that ought to be part of the national dialogue. To be equal does not mean that Israel young women have to be subject to potentially coercive situations where they are under "male' authorities to whom they are expected to "obey orders". We can discuss this issue like adults in an open forum where Israel men and women can decide what is best,, or trash each other. We have a choice, one hopes it is the peaceable one.
