Jake says "do you see any Sadat coming out of Hizbullah?" Maybe not a Sadat, but a Lebanese Begin, perhaps. There are some striking parallels between Nasrallah and Begin. Both came from somewhat "fundamentalist" original positions, and were involved in terrorism. Both are / were clearly very capable leaders of men, more interested in putting their veiwpoints straightforwardly and objectively rather than indulging much in empty rhetoric. Begin, of course, moved Irgun's people from terrorism to politics when the situation where this became possible arose. Nasrallah was clearly doing much the same with Hesbollah, with its increasing focus on political processes and social services, prior to this war. Despite the obvious support connections linking Hesbollah to Iran and Syria Nasrallah also seems to be fiercely nationalistic Lebanese, and not the puppet protrayed by Bush etc. (Interestingly Begin & Irgun were often similarly said to be Soviet puppets by the British).
