The reason Israelis revere it is not because of the words but because of the feelings of love it inspires in them for their country. Hatikvah's words may not be politically correct but what they represent is the essence of Jewish freedom - which has always been fragile and hanging by a thread. This was true before Israel was founded and the words remind Israeli Jews how much was sacrificed to establish the state. It will be never be replaced because it speaks to Israel's past, present and future.
