I'm not Catholic, so Pius' sainthood (or non-sainthood) does not impact me in any way. However, it seems to me that Pius deserves to have people research the facts of what he did do. I've read that Pius *did* help to hide Jews and urged others to do the same. He didn't just sit on his hands and do nothing. Perhaps the expectation was that Pius would have more influence on the Nazis and help end the killing of innocent people. I doubt anyone could have influenced the Nazis. The Nazis were anti-Christian so listening to the pope would be the last thing they'd do.
