Israel mostly defends own country and citizens from terrorists, living in her neighborhood. The only party in that mix that really has little to nothing to lose is US. Considering that Abbas did follow up and submitted to UN, this is not only implausible. The only country occupying two countries half way around the world, and otherwise emboldened by making threats, is our own. Akiva Eldar wasn't there during meeting as well and is also speaking off of a third party "description", without either context or insight. US tried to persuade Abbas to not to pursue matter in UN for own sake. Our king of spades, Ambassador to ME Mitchell, is calling all the shots, most recently threatening Israel with economic war. Was it not for Haiti earthquake, this week Hamas would of launched new round of "rockets investment". With Obama controlled US media run funraiser from get go that would make for interest on principal. And that would of being only appetizer.
