There are a lot of significant disaffected groups in the world. Most of them, the majority, have legitimate gripes and do, in fact have strong causes, Palestinians, Kurds, Muslim groups in China etc. It is not the biggest secret that some various mass weapons, including chemicals and others, are easily within reach of any group led by someone with a basic education, simple literacy and an internet connection. The pretense that these weapons involve complex scientific knowledge is dropping away. Those countries that ignore this rapidly developing reality, including specifically Israel, are defying common sense. Israel, for its relationship to its neighbors and other reasons will almost certainly be the first example of this global shift in military realities. Specifically that means Israel is a very soft target for mass weapons and Israel will be targeted successfully to the extent necessary to satisfy the groups that would use these weapons. So in one sense or another the state of Israel will be on the cutting edge. As things are it will be the first casualty of a new paradigm that empowers just causes over wealth and power. Or, if the state of Israel adapts and accepts the legitimacy of groups that have justice but not power, and modernizes the philosophies of Zionism to reflect today rather than a distant Europe, well, never mind, that will not happen.
