The term Black Zionism is related to two things. First the settlement by the United States in 1822 by freed American Black Slaves in the settlement of Liberia in Africa. Whereupon the people of Liberia named their capital Monroe after the US President. Secondly, it is associated with the Black American leader Marcus Garvey who in the 1920's and 1930's related the struggle of Black Americans to regain pride to the Zionist Movement of Theodore Herzl. There are basically two component of Diaspora and Return. The term is not related to the Ethiopian Falasha Jews for instance, on account that they are simply Jews and color has nothing to do with it. The British on the other hand have a tradition whereby some are of the belief that they are decendants of Israelites that fled persecutions by the Romans. The remnants of the Jewish Church as it were, that was destroyed by the then, Pagan Romans in the Holyland.
