The only reason that Israel did so badly in Lebanon was not because Hizbollah were a superior force. it was because the people running the show in Israel were making all the wrong decisions. Olmert rushed into the war with no clear aims or objectives and then he pulled out before achiving anything. Dan Halutz a former air force general believed that the airforce could win this war allmost single handly and by the time he realised he had neglected infantry and sent more troops in it was to late. Peretz the defense minister had never even served in the army and didnt know the first thing about running a war. If Israel had a compitent leadership then Lebanon would have been won and Hizbollah smashed. A compitent leadership would also have avoided getting involved in a fight in Lebanon instead they would have gone to Hizbollahs paymasters in Dammascuss. Drop a few cluster bombs on Assads palace, send tanks into Syria that would have had an effect and it would have brought results.
