rarely do i agree with eldar. he made a stupid remark on olmert insistance of israel recognition as a jewish state, but otherwise he's correct. first, 'And if Olmert does believe this, is he willing to give Abbas something of equal value in exchange?'. equal value would be the acceptance of the palestinian state as a state of 'palestinians'. i think olmert is willing to give this in exchange. second, olmert will not insist on his demand and fold up easily, anyway. otherwise, going to make fateful decisions under so much domestic pressure and without any political support, is reckless at best. olmert will get us into the situation worse than barak did 7 years ago.
