The Israeli government has never intended for the Palestinians to have a state of their own and has done everything in their power to ensure that they remain disenfranchised. The Palestinian Arabs have been demonized without taking into account the conditions that breed terror and violent Islamism, and how Israel played a very large role in creating these conditions. Violence begets violence. Israel, from the beginning, has used violence and oppression to deal with the Palestinian problem. That's not to say that the Palestinians are innocent, but that they have been left with no viable options. The peace process has never been a fair friend to them. Try to imagine what life would be like if you were a Palestinian and had grown up in a refugee camp dirt poor with no viable means to make a living and no real hope for a future. It's no wonder that we are seeing movements like Hamas arising out of these conditions.
