Perhaps it is because i had more sympathy with Rabin than Sharon, but I do feel Rabin, regardless of the reasons for it, understood that the status quo was unsustainable and that he had to deal with the Palestinians. Sharon clearly has no intention of doing so. He left Gaza and that is it. That is a far as he moves. For Rabin there was a handshake with a grimace while with Sharon there will never be a handshake. Compromise is over. Force is back in place for him, his old reliable.
