this is a great and poignant article. the settlement criminal and disastrous venture had begun when labor was the largest and most dominant political body in israel.the labor party, which was supposed to to be the champion of the working class and the underprivileged, diverted astonishing financial resources to the settlements venture and betrayed its principles. labor has behaved in a cowardly way since, never having the courage to confront the settlers when in power, becoming a party of shoddy political deals and no principles. their corruption pales compared to likud's, but their cowardice in dealing with the criminal settlement entity and theirutter betrayal of their principles is shameful rabin came to symbolize that betrayal by failing to stand up to the radical settlers. levi is right, rabin was a great general but a cowardly politician.he understoos that times were changing and he had to recognize the plo and cut a deal with arafat, but he he didn't have the integrity and courage to start dismantling the settlement enterprise.
