What better way is there to say you failed miserably? How long can the Americans continue this utter nonsense? What does Kerry really expect, that after dozens of speeches by Netanyahu about 'Judea, Jerusalem and Samaria for ever Jewish', an Israeli government full of settlers, nationalists and even Yair Lapid, the new politicians explicitly denouncing peace, that Bibi is now, suddenly going to do the complete opposite? Did Kerry leave his brain back in Washington when he left for Israel and Palestine? No, he did not. He took his brain and the knowledge that he was not going to change anything. Even the talks in order to start peace talks would fail. He knew it, like we all did, proving once again that the US are unwilling to end the occupation. But (let's try to put in a more positive perspective) maybe Kerry was not referring to the Middle East leaders when he said it's time leaders need to make hard decisions. Maybe he thought of his boss, the US President, wishing him to start making hard decisions: ending the blind US support for the Israeli occupation regime, ending the dependence to US Jewish lobby money and influence, ending the old lies of being a neutral brooker while aiding the Israelis through thick and thin and even seperately coordinating the talks between Israel and Palestine ... with the Israelis! Now I've come to think of it, that is what Kerry meant: Obama, start making hard decisions!
