"And in the end, if it be His will, I will die right alongside my brother." We have here in Germany an "anti-German" group which used to appear with Israeli flags at demonstrations. An article in a German Jewish newspaper was dedicated to them with the ironic title "The better Israelis". Waving flags is not my style, but I put on an IDF T-shirt years ago: Ready to die :). But I might not have looked sufficiently dangerous: Some Arab students began laughing (and not even in a mockery tone, for that matter!) when I passed by, another one silently read "Tsahal" on my pigeon chest and looked me friendly into the face. It is of course wrong to think that all Arabs hate Israel or Israelis (which I am not). Besides, I might have already been too well known as a learner of Arabic at that time. Those may be remainders of German staunchness, of German idealism in me. Such values continue to live in Glenn Beck, descendent of German immigrants according to Wikipedia.
