Some 6,000 Poles have been named "Righteous Among Nations" by Israel -- more than from any other country. And this was despite the fact that Poles suffered as much as Jews in the death camps. Six million POLES died (jewishvirtuallibrary.org), only half of them Jewish. So the tragedy was shared quite equally. I think many contemporary Jews forget that the Nazis ran the death camps in Poland and Poles were their first victims. "Kill every man, woman and child" of Polish nationality was the directive.
