    1. "You cannot make military aid conditional...." Of course we can. 2. This is not an election year. This is 2011. The election is 15 months from now. The bill doesn't HAVE to pass--this action will expose millions of Americans to arguments against our relationship to Israel that they have never heard before. 3. "The Republicans now Control Congress..." Actually, they PRESENTLY control the House of Representatives. Leahy is a member of the SENATE (controlled by DEMS) and is a leading member of the Appropriations Committee, Leahy is the CHAIRMAN of the Committee's Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations. 4. As bad as Obama's polling is (for now) the Republicans as a group (BOTH Houses) are getting approval ratings that are much worse. As for the Republicans-in-disguise Obama haters (and actual Israeli's) who portray Obama as the most anti-Israel, anti-Semitic...etc...etc...etc..., please recall that George HW Bush was prepared to cut off ALL aid to Israel at one point in his presidency, that Clinton had extremely ambivalent feelings about Israel and that is was George Bush who denied the transfer to Israel of "bunker busters" for use against Iranian nuclear sites. He also approved the program for equipping, training and funding of the PA security forces. Obama however, who continues to defend Israel at the UN and who is obviously aware "...the United States Army is looking to increase cooperation with the IDF, and will hold one of the largest joint exercises in the two nations’ history in 2012, a senior American general said on Wednesday." (JP 8-11-11 http://www.jpost.com/Defense/Article.aspx?id=233317) MUST be an anti-Semite for ever daring to question Israel's conduct.
