Who disagrees with this formula? If it's the Palestinian Authority, than probably there's no reason to even start the talks, they would not lead anywhere. If the Palestinian does not recognize the historic, national and political rights of the Jewish people in their native land, than on what foundation could the agreement be based? May be, it would be a good idea for the both sides then to indeed undertake the series of unilateral steps aiming at ending the occupation, removal of settlements, establishing borders and ending the situation of inequality between different "types" of population in the West Bank, rather than ending the conflict, because, if the Palestinians are those who don't accept the historical, national and political rights of the Jewish people, including the right for self determination, then the main reason for this conflict still cannot be solved.
