The Jews of Palestine constituted about 5% of the population c. 1900. Despite the "yearning for Zion," most Jews preferred to stay in the Western lands, despite a history of prejudice and persecution. I understand why the Jews would want to have their own country, but there were already Arab natives who had established villages, a culture, a history and were expecting self-sufficiency after the expulsion of the Ottomans in 1917. Tragically, the illegal "Balfour Declaration" gave all Jews all the green light to colonise Palestine. And so the demographic murder of the Arabs was achieved by 1948 through support of the wealthy Western powers, the desire to have a mass migration of Jews from the Western countries thanks to continuing prejudice and the horrors of the Holocaust, a blitzkrieg of propaganda that the Arabs could never rival, terrorism--the demographics are totally changed, the winners write the history. And you wonder why the Arabs are unhappy with the usurpers.
