This is what we hear from the Israeli army spokesman. But there were no arms or explosives found on the bodies. Maan News reports that the relatives of the three dead confirmed that all worked at sea as fishermen. The shooting took place near the former Dugit colony in the northwest tip of the Gaza Strip and the Israeli navy also took part in the shooting. These men were fired on by a helicopter. They weren't even close to the fence. It is with more justification one could say that these men were engaged in activities relating to their work. Meaning that they were preparing to go out at sea. Yes, those who have been in Gaza know that Palestinian fishermen are out at sea during the night fishing. If one stands on the beach at night in Gaza one can see the little dots of lights out at sea indicating where the fishing boats are. The fishermen land their catch on the beach early in the morning and it is then brought to market. Israel has declared a wide swath of land of more than 300 meters beyond the fence a free firing zone. Only a day or so ago some Palestinian workers from a cement factory were hit in the legs by Israeli fire, just because they were collecting gravel just within this 300 meter free firing zone. "Attempting to plant explosives" to me sounds more like a cover up for plain murder. These were all young people in their 20s!
