Would the content of this article not be exactly the same at the time when Begin was in office, just before the miracle of Sadat’s visit? Was there ever a leftist government that made peace with Syria or that brought peace with the Palestinian Arabs? What about the ill-fated comparison with Austria, a country that is not threatened with annihilation but that never came to terms with its Nazi past? Knowing Austria quite well, I am disgusted. Another question is why the Left in the government is not threatening to break up the coalition. But my main rebuke for Levy is his failure to show alternatives in a situation where Israel is threatened with annihilation and where a fundamentalist state is tightening Israel’s neck by transferring arms to the North and the South of Israel. David Levy, what is YOUR solution?
