I'm curious. While we talk about billions of dollars flowing from the U.S. to Israel, and whether or not it's appropriate or sustainable, I'd like folks to post their best guess on the following questions: What percentage of the U.S. GDP is spent on foreign aid (to all countries combined)? What percentage of that goes to Israel? which is what in dollars? What percentage of that goes to Egypt? which is what in dollars? What percentage of that goes to Jordan? which is what in dollars? After covering all associated costs, what is the Saudi government's profit from one year's worth of oil sales to the U.S.? I'm asking for guesses. To any or all of these questions. Eventually, coming up with some accurate answers would useful. But I'm most curious about the perceptions folks already have. Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
