OK, so you were present for a conciliatory speech by Abbas. We get it. My question to you, Mr. Eldar, is twofold: 1. Why don't you or Haaretz EVER mention material, such as what I quote below. 2. What is your response to the facts below: According to the official PA daily, Al Hayat Al-Jadida, Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Authority President reaffirmed to a meeting of Arab writers and journalists in Jordan that he and the PA would be “in favor” of a general Arab war with Israel, WERE ONE POSSIBLE. Abbas said: “We are unable to confront Israel militarily, and this point was discussed at the Arab League Summit in March in Sirt (Libya). There I turned to the Arab States and I said: ‘If you want war, and if all of you will fight Israel, we are in favor’”. Other RECENT Mahmoud Abbas statements ignored by the Netanyahu bashers: Abbas: “It is not required of Hamas, or of Fatah, or of the Popular Front to recognize Israel” (Al-Arabiya [Dubai] and PA TV, October 3, 2006) “I say this clearly: I do not accept the Jewish State, call it what you will.” Mahmoud Abbas, April 28, 2009. It seems to me, that you and Haaretz shy away from spreading the word on these facts because,"ending the occupation" is more important to you than preventing the start of the Palestinian War of Independence (which would begin once Israel finished withdrawing to the 67 lines).
