Arrested in 2003, not charged until February 2008, tried to plead guilty later that year. The prosecution of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has been delayed by a second US administration. What should have been an open and shut case was turned into a legal nightmare by the desire of George W. Bush to have the right to arrest anyone, anywhere, and hold them without legal review for any time he desired. The US Supreme Court did not agree that the US Constitution allowed George Bush dictatorial and extralegal powers. Meanwhile Bush's penchant for torture left the entire case impeached by the Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States. George Bush has been a great friend to the world's terrorists and a major threat to justice for vermin like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Bush did not do this intentionally. It was typical incompetence, arrogance and egotism.
