The fuel swap deal is a positive sign, there is no question about that. What remains to be seen is if it will be simply a brief respite on the road to disaster, or a genuine first step towards resolving this crisis. As long as Iran continues to maintain an independent nuclear enrichment program that is shielded from full international oversight, it is a danger to Israel and to the entire western world. I hope this development will lead to future breakthroughs in negotiations. However, I also hope that western powers do not ease up on Iran one iota until there is genuine confirmation that their quest for a nuclear arsenal has been halted.
