"I wonder why not China, why not Chile, why not Burma, where the human rights issue is far, far worse than here," Newman said" My answer to Professor Newman is that the other countries aren't waving the flag of democracy like Israel is doing. Not that this excuses them from being boycotted either. What kind of a democracy does an occupation and an Apartheid like system represent? A Jim Crow Democracy? Where there is one set of standards for Israelis and another for non-Jews. And why should we be giving so much aid to Israel as Israel receives more aid than the whole African continent combined? How just is this? And aren't we perpetuating this fiction and double standard that is responsible for inspeakable wrongs and inequalities within the Israeli system too? Shouldn't we all stop and become more accountable and correct this injustice and preserve the integrity of a system so many embrace and now threatens Israel's place in the world? Thank you, Dutch
