It is precisely the kind of posturing that Peres takes that delays the peace process. I refuse to believe that the man is so blinded by his sense of self-importance to think that he, somehow, has been appointed spokesman for the Palestinians while neither Mahmud Abbas nor Khalid Meshal is making that claim. But then, I also refuse to believe that he is sabotaging Mr. Mitchell's current initiative. What is sure is that, if Mitchell goes back to DC as disappointed as Joe Biden had done recently, then Peres will share the blame with Netanyahu for the further deterioration of the relations of Israel with the US.
