Why should we listen to Gideon Levy? Because he is the observer who listens with greatest compassion and insight to both parties in the conflict. Of course - pressure is effective to both sides. To the Palestinian side one should consider some facts: PLO turned by the years from an outright violator to a negotiator. The same can happen to Hamas. Suicide attacks reached zero in the years 1999 and 2000, up to Sharons provocative visit at Haram al-Sharif. These facts on the Palestinian side also reflects the increasing hope due to the Oslo accords. The handshake of Arafat and Rabin came after pressure on both sides in the Oslo negotiations. Thank you for your good work, Gideon!
