There are most likely many reasons why Prime Minister Netanyahu has taken a publicly belligerent attitude to President Obama over Israeli-Palestinian peace moves, and the "historic mistake' that is Geneva-1. To me, the most telling is his political realisation that the return of Mr. Lieberman to front line politics is the last piece of the new political jigsaw puzzle that is the last Israel election. An election that put Bibi on notice that his political fate, not necessarily Likud's, is in the hands of other players close to him. His political nightmare is that he will be deposed and, as such, become irrelevant to events. Hubris will turn to humiliation; an ignominious end. In his desire for political domination in Israel, he has created a Frankenstein monster at home and, through his proxies, in the Unites States. That monster, as in Shelley’s story, is now turning to destroy him, and he realises it. His frantic strongman outpourings of late against friends and foes are those of a person drowning not waving. Après Bibi le deluge? Most likely given an Israel body politic that has been so insular in its thinking for so long.
