The JNF law is not the only discriminatory law that should be changed. The so-called "Present-Absent Laws", which are still being enforced today, stipulate that Palestinians who were away from their homes/lands on a certain date are considered absent when it comes to property rights - even if these Palestinians were visiting relatives in the adjacent village! Once labeled "Absent", eventhough they still live inside Israel, the property of these Palestinians is labeled "abandoned property" and thus was happily taken over by the government! This also means that my grandmother's house, in which my living mother grew up and which I pass by everyday, is now controlled by the government and we can't recover it under current laws. Strange? Yes indeed, but that's reality!
