Time and time again Israel makes the argument that any discussion of Jerusalem implies or prejudges the outcome of final status issues. As if forcibly altering the demographics of Jerusalem does not prejudge a particular outcome of a final status issue. Netanyahu's so-called settlement freeze does not include Jerusalem. Interesting...so, all the new construction in Jerusalem does not prejudge the outcome of a final status issue. Yet, merely having some folks in a room in Brussels say that both peoples have rights in Jerusalem does constitute prejudgment of a final status issue. Borrowing a phrase from everyone's favorite expert on settlements (Sarah Palin), the above logic is completely "backasswards."
