We may have to be pragmatic and subject higher risk groups to more detailed checks. Israel clearly has been very successful in regard to airline security and we may have to learn some lessons from this. We have managed to avoid this question so far since there hasn't been a rash of incidents. If there were to be we'd certainly have to take a second look. I think at the very least people on the suspect lists but not on the no fly lists should be screened more thoroughly. I am guessing that the authorities dont want to tip off the people on the lists. But apparently there are 400,000 of them so I dont think it signals too much. Its a question of the lesser evil and it needn't mean every coloured person or muslim is subjected to the same screening its a matter of graduating the process according possible risk.
