Give me a break. How is it that every year lately, at about the same time, the US and the UK governments produce some story about yet another alleged al-Qaida threat, produce no proof but spin it beyond belief? In this case, the only claimed proof to al-Qaida is the explosive, PETN. As if al-Qaida has cornered the market in PETN or has a monopoly on its production. Here is what Encyclopaedia Britannica says about PETN: PETN, abbreviation of Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate, a highly explosive organic compound belonging to the same chemical family as nitroglycerin—i.e., the nitric acid esters of polyalcohols. PETN was introduced as an explosive after World War I. It is used by itself in detonators and detonating fuses (Primacord) and in a mixture, called pentolite, with an equal amount of trinitrotoluene (TNT) in grenades and projectiles.
