Agree that one state - albeit an apartheid state - exists at the moment. Does anyone really believe that Jewish Israelis will really agree to give up the privileges they now enjoy - greater funding for Jewish schools, land only to be used for Jewish housing, cheap loans for building in the West Bank etc? This idea of one state seems the final victory for Zionism - all the land and, maybe in a generation or so, if we feel like it then, non-Jews may, or may get a vote. I sometimes think that too many Israelis think that if they don't demolish their houses, shoot them, imprison them, Palestinians should be grateful and swear allegience to the Jewish state. Sort of like having some cute little puppies. No, the one state solution must be one adult one vote, equality before the law regardless of religion or race, and some form of anti-discrimination legislation. I think the article simply reflects that fact that some Jewish Israelis just want to relax their iron fist on the Palestinians enough to give themselves a warm inner glow and ward off the growing International criticism of Israel. Try again.
