Interesting that you say Porush's biggest success in Beitar is gaining the backing of Shas spiritual leader, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. The Agudath Yisrael MKs in the Knesset are slamming the Shas party for being part of a government that is proposing multi million shekel cuts to the Torah world budget and yet it is Porush's biggest success to be in cahoots with them in Beitar. Maybe that is part of the reason why Porush has been prevented from using the Aguda voting symbol, the Hebrew letter Gimmel, for his new party. Your report gives the impression that Porush = Agudath Yisrael. That is simply not true. The most senior of the Agudath Yisrael Rabbis, the Viznitzer and Gur Rebbes are not backing him. The Viznitz candidates are even aligned with the list of the Boyaner Chassidim, the largest single Chassidic group in Beitar, and support the current Mayor for another term. If Porush was a cool, experienced politician he is now overheating, pouring a fortune of money into a fight he is losing.
