As a young Catholic, I am deeply appalled and insulted by the ADL and their suggestion to suspend the canonization of a great Pope, Pope Pius XII. Many Catholic still today consider Pius XII a saint. He was not responsible for the Holocaust, nor was He the only moral voice in the world who should have spoken against the killings of Jews and many millions of others. Alone among world leaders, Pius XII attempted thru all means possible to save as many Jews as possible. He was thanked in His own lifetime by many Jews who survived the War for his noble efforts. The misguided views of the ADL, and the outright bigotry of others should not cast a shadow on the figure of Pope Pius XII, nor exert pressure on the present Pope to suspend the initiatives to canonize as a saint His noble and indeed truely saintly predecessor.
