The mistake in lebanon was in not destroying the PLO and allowing them to leave, and not setting up a Christian state in the buffer zone. Now instead there is Hezbullah. Were this to be done Hezbullah would be there but further away and Israel would have an allied christian state between. The reason there are failures in Israel's war is israel's inconsistent policy towards terrorists and their military enemies. First all terrorists should be targets for liquidation, there should be no favouring of political wings. Second, unrestrained warfare everywhere has been notoriously unsuccesful because it fosters terrorism. The best model to date is the US war against Japan and Germany and their subsequent occupation. Enemies must be killed whoever they are.
